I’m not really knowledgeable about the fashion industry or what styles are in right now (I’m told retro is hot, but you already knew that). I couldn’t tell you the name of the top designer from Fashion week in Paris. But I do know my kicks (shoes) from the latest Nike SB’s and the newest “Supra” and that Nike’s are the world champions of “hip.” But then Creative Recreation emerged in the fashion world and instantly took the underground scene by storm. You could argue Creative Recreation is the Impressionist of our generation, fighting the evil conformity of the Academy in Paris.They came out of the corner swinging for the knockout punch with their new Italian Collection “Porello.” I was fortunate to grab two pairs of their new Italian models (the two kicks above), available in limited supply at retail stores. As I looked at the shoe I could see the craftsmanship that went it to its sleek and sturdy design, from the way the intricate stitching of the mesh adds to the aesthetic of the shoe to the Patent leather (which is one of their many signatures) that gives it that glossy finish. All of my friends are envious of the two pairs I have. When I first put on the white shoes with my white blazer I thought to myself, these are what angels definitely rock in heaven, while lounging on clouds talking about their heavenly day in paradise.What makes Creative Recreation so off the hook? Is it their amazing palette of colors? Their modern yet stylish designs? Their form of originality that we so desperately need in a time of fashion conformity? If Creative Recreation was Spider-Man than you would have to say, “with great kicks comes great responsibility.” I did not recognize fashion as an art form, but as I look through my rack of cr8rec’s I start to lean the other way. While putting on a pair of Cesario Lo’s the other day I realized that I was walking in art and stepping outside would let me share it with the world. Slowly but surely Creative Recreation is rising to superstardom in the shoe industry with one goal in mind: to become the new world champions.
